1. Do I need an appointment to get tattooed at Sunken Ship?
No, you do not need an appointment. Some artists are booked pretty far ahead, but we usually have someone who will be able to help you when you come in. If we do not, then someone will be available later that day or can book an appointment for you at their earliest convience.
2. Do tattoos really hurt?
Yes, tattoos do hurt. The pain is similar to a cat scratch. The pain is more annoying than anything, but every person is different, and every area that you are getting tattooed is also different.
3. Do you charge by the hour, or by the piece?
We charge by the hour. All of our artists are $120 an hour, and have a minimum of only $50 (not including WA state sales tax). The final cost of your tattoo depends on size, placement, color / black and gray, and skin type. For larger tattoos we are able to do your tattoo in multiple sessions.
4. Why should I get tattooed or pierced at Sunken Ship?
All of our artists go to great lengths to ensure that every client receives the best possible tattoo or piercing. Consultations are available for your tattoo, in which we can discuss multiple things before anything is place on or in your skin. We want to make sure that you are completely happy with your tattoo, and are 100% comfortable with everything that goes into the tattoo and its process. We are a fully custom tattoo shop, which means that we have no tattoo flash (other than a few traditional pieces which pay homage to the tattoo artists of yesterday) so each tattoo is completely custom just for you, and will never be used again. Our friendly artists are extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of tattoo design and application so you can trust that you are in good hands.
5. I want to know if I can get tattooed or pierced, even though I’m 16?
The answer is no. Washington state laws requires that you must be 18 years of age before you can get tattooed. While you do not have to be 18 to be pierced, our piercer chooses not to pierce minors. So in other words, 18 and up, no exceptions.
6. Where are you located?
We are located at 3715 Broadway, in Everett, WA directly across from the IHOP and the Aquasox stadium. Please click here to go to our map to recieve turn by turn directions from Mapquest!
7. What are your hours?
Sunken Ship is open 7 days a week. Monday – Saturday from 12pm – 9pm and Sunday from 12pm – 7pm.
8. Are tattoos safe?
We cannot speak for every tattoo studio, but here at Sunken Ship your health and safety is of our upmost concern. In addition to providing new needles for every client, we also adhere to strict procudures to avoid cross contamination. You can expect to see disposable ink holder, disposable razors, and barriers on everything that must be touched during the tattoo process. All needles are single use, and all instruments are sterilized with an autoclave. For instruments that cannot be autoclaved, such as the working area, we use liquid sterlizers such as Cavacide, and Madacide.
